Associate degree
The Associate Degree in Applied Sciences program in Veterinary Technician aims to train professionals who can assist the veterinarian in the procedures of exploration, treatment and pharmacology, prevention and diagnosis of diseases in animals. The graduate will be able to carry out other tasks of assistance to domestic animals, in the emergency areas, operating room and first aid, as well as imaging techniques and laboratory tests. The program is designed for students who aspire to work as assistants in clinics, hospitals, farms and animal research centers or any other place where a veterinarian needs their assistance.

Bachelor Degree
The Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology aspires to train professionals who can assist the doctor in veterinary medicine in procedures such as exploration, treatment and pharmacology, prevention, and diagnosis of diseases in animals. The graduate will be able to assist in other functions in the attention of domestic animals, research, and farm in the emergency areas, operating room and first aid; as well as imaging techniques and laboratory tests. The program is designed for students who wish to work as veterinary technologists in clinics, hospitals, farms, and animal research centers or anywhere else the doctor in veterinary medicine needs their assistance. The student who cannot complete the bachelor program will have the option of completing an Associate Degree in Veterinary Technician.

Practices Centers Veterinary Technology Program
The practices centers identified by the Clinical Practice Coordinator comply with the standards and requirements established by the Program of Veterinary Technology. Among the requirements are that the center must have Doctors in Veterinary Medicine and / or Veterinary Technologists licensed by the Puerto Rico Veterinary Medical Examining Board and / or the Sub Board of Veterinary Technicians and Technologists.
The practice centers are an essential tool in learning the skills, aptitudes and knowledge of our students and in turn, train them in multiple work settings. Among the working scenarios, the following stand out: veterinary clinics, livestock production farms, shelters, sanctuaries, emergency hospitals, zoos, university institutions, racetracks, among others.

 

Graduation Requirements: Associate Degree in Applied Sciences in Veterinary Technician

All students to be a candidate for graduation must meet the following requirements:

  • Pass the 65 credits included in the study program.
  • Complete a total of 240 hours of clinical practice.
  • Obtain a minimum GPA of 2.00
  • Meet any other institutional graduation requirement that is in effect at the time the student requests graduation.

Graduation Requirements: Bachelor Degree in Sciences in Veterinary Technology

All students to be a candidate for graduation must meet the following requirements:

  • Pass the 120 credits included in the study program.
  • Complete a total of 240 hours of clinical practice of Veterinary Technician.
  • Complete a total of 240 hours of clinical practice of Veterinary Technologist.
  • Obtain a minimum GPA of 2.00
  • Meet any other institutional graduation requirement that is in effect at the time the student requests graduation.
